2 Chronicles 14th chapter tells the story of Asa, a man that did what was good in the sight of God. Asa got rid of everything in the city of Judah that did not please the Lord and he instructed everyone to seek the Lord and to keep all of His commandments. He took out every high thing and every burnt incense. Everything that displeased God, he got rid of. The Bible says that the city of Judah rested under the leadership of Asa. There were no wars under his leadership, because Asa did what was good in the sight of God and God gave them rest. The Bible says that the city of Judah under Asa built and prospered.
When Zerah rose up against Judah with a million man army and 300 chariots, Asa went before God and cried out for the people. The 11th verse says, And Asa cried unto the Lord his God, and said, Lord , it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O Lord our God; for WE RELY ON THEE, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O Lord , thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee.
What a powerful example of what can happen when we do what’s good in the sight of God and we face something that’s bigger than we are. Asa’s army was only 300,000 and what he faced was an army of one million men. But Asa told God, “WE RELY ON THEE”. God through Asa defeated what was bigger than him. Their enemy fled from them and Asa’s army chased them down until all one million were defeated. The Bible says, they were broken. The men of Judah (300,000) were victorious and carried away all of the riches of their enemies.
Look what happens when our ways please God. God will break the back of our enemy. Listen this COVID-19 has come upon us and it is a huge battle to fight and we can’t fight it with our once a week prayer or our reading the Bible only on Sunday. This battle is going to require us walking daily in the statues and commandments of God. It’s going to require a devoted prayer life. It’s going to require our faith to be strong in an all powerful God. This battle will only be won when our ways please God. Not only will God defeat this battle for us, but He will release the wealth of the ungodly into our hands……WHEN OUR WAYS PLEASE HIM.
So follow the necessary physical instructions from the health authorities, stay home, sanitize everything, constantly wash your hands, wear your mask, but after all that is done we must still walk in ways that please God. We must seek His face daily. We must turn from our wicked ways. Like Asa, I’m crying out to God saying, Father I AM RELY ON THEE, please help me to daily walk in ways that please You. In Jesus Name.
